1st Birthday

I know its been three weeks, but I'm finally getting to the pictures from Patrick's first birthday. A day where he spent a lot of the time in the car traveling from Oshkosh to Washington, with a stop off in Mundelien to see the extended Hatton Clan and experience his first wrapping paper fight. A day where the Bears lost a meaningless (it still bugs me) game to the Packers. But most importantly, it was the day when Patrick first experienced the wonder that is chocolate cake.

First he opened up some presents at Grandma and Grandpa's house. He really likes riding and pushing around his Thomas the Tank Engine.


Once he went to bed, it was time to decorate the Patrick's cake. Keep in mind that neither Meg or I had any clue what we were doing, but we decided to wing it and it came out fairly well.

The early stages

Mixing up some colored frosting and laying down the base for the sprinkle hair.

The finished product. At least it sort of looks like them, even if the eyes were a little creepy looking.
